Inside the Observatory: AI Astrology with Human Design + Numerology
The Synestrology Observatory is an AI astrology chat for people who want to talk to their own chart. It combines a Western tropical natal chart, a Human Design bodygraph, and Pythagorean numerology, all computed from the same Swiss Ephemeris backend used by professional astrologers. The chat is the product
The main surface is a conversation. You type; the response streams back. The model that answers isn’t a general-purpose assistant with a horoscope plugin. It has your full chart loaded on every turn: 20 bodies (Sun through Pluto, both lunar nodes, Chiron, Mean Lilith, four major asteroids, two named fixed stars), all natal aspects with orbs, all 12 house cusps with modern rulers, your Human Design gates and channels, your Life Path, your Personal Year, and today’s transits to natal.
That last part matters. When a transit is exact this week, the model already knows. When Mercury moves into your third house tomorrow, it’s already in context. You don’t have to explain what’s happening in the sky. It’s reading the sky and your chart at the same time.
The daily rhythm
Signing up triggers a first reading. Around the time your Stripe charge confirms, a personalized card lands in your Observatory: a four-beat opening that reads your natal chart directly and names one pattern the wiring produces. This isn’t a welcome email. It’s the first thing you see when you log in.
After that, every day gets its own context layer. The chat has three time windows loaded on any given turn:
- The past 15 days. Recent lunations, station days, ingresses, and sky patterns that just landed, annotated with which of your houses they hit.
- Today. The full list of aspects between transiting planets and your natal placements, ranked by tightness.
- The next 14 days. Upcoming lunations, stations, ingresses, and eclipses (30-day window for eclipses), plus any notable aspect patterns forming in the sky.
The model doesn’t recite these every turn. It surfaces them when the conversation intersects with a real event, when you ask about timing, or when a pattern is rare enough to warrant mention. Otherwise it stays out of the way.
What the chart holds
Beyond the ten classical planets (Sun through Pluto), the Observatory loads ten more. The nodes matter because they name the direction you’re stretching toward and what you’re leaving. Chiron matters because it maps the wound-and-craft pattern. Lilith matters because it names what won’t be domesticated. The four major asteroids (Ceres, Pallas, Juno, Vesta) fill in nurture, strategy, partnership, and devotion. Regulus and Spica, the two named fixed stars, appear when they’re conjunct a personal planet or angle within about a degree.
On top of the natal chart, the Observatory also carries two derived layers:
- Progressed chart. Secondary progressions computed to today’s date, refreshed weekly to track progressed Moon drift. Progressions describe the slower internal timeline, the shifts that unfold over years.
- Solar return. The annual return chart for your current birth-year cycle, refreshed each year on your birthday.
Pattern detection
The Observatory runs two kinds of structural analysis over your chart, both surfaced to the chat as context.
The first is pattern detection. Eleven configurations are checked against your chart and the sky’s 14-day window: Grand Trine, T-square, Yod, Kite, Grand Cross, Mystic Rectangle, Cradle, Wedge, Grand Sextile, Stellium, and the Barbault Basket (when three or more outer planets converge into a rare structural signature). When the sky forms one that intersects with your chart, the model notices.
The second is statistical anomaly detection. Seven detectors flag when your chart sits at the tail of a real distribution: element or modality imbalance, hemisphere asymmetry, tight orb clusters, house stelliums, geometric chart shape, and aspect density (sparse vs dense). The thresholds aren’t clinical intuition. They come from a baseline of 10,000 synthetic birth charts spanning 1940 to 2020, so when the model says something in your chart is unusual, it means unusual against a real population, not against a vibe.
What it won’t do
The chat has a strict anti-fabrication contract. If you ask about a placement that isn’t in the loaded chart context, the response is “I don’t have that loaded” rather than an invented answer. If you ask about a transit that isn’t active, the model checks its tool for the actual dates before responding. It has access to three astrological compute tools it can invoke on demand: transits to natal for any window, lunations in a range, and planet positions on any date.
The reason for this discipline is direct. A model that invents a placement to keep the conversation flowing has stopped being useful and started being a mirror. The Observatory is built to be useful.
Memory
Conversations don’t reset between sessions. The chat carries what you said last week and what you said last month. On the closing day of each lunar cycle, past conversations get compacted into anchor observations and cycle summaries, then re-surfaced in later sessions when they’re topically relevant. The compaction runs in the background; you don’t touch it. The effect is that the chat feels like it knows you across time, because it does.
