Full Moon in Aquarius: Sun Conjunct Jupiter and the First Lunation Under the New Nodes
The Full Moon on July 29, 2026 lands at 6.5 degrees Aquarius, opposing the Sun in Leo. Two aspects at this Full Moon are extraordinarily tight: the Moon opposes the Sun within 0.01 of a degree, and opposes Jupiter within 0.06. Jupiter is sitting exactly on top of the Sun. So the Moon is not just opposing the Sun. It’s opposing Sun-and-Jupiter as one point.
This lunation closes the cycle that opened at the New Moon in Cancer on July 14. And it’s the first lunation under the new nodal axis, which shifted from Pisces/Virgo into Aquarius/Leo two days earlier on July 27. The Moon is arriving in the sign the North Node just entered, and the Sun in the sign the South Node just entered. The axis is being activated by light, not by geometry alone.

- Reading your own writing back and realizing you meant it more than you knew

Numerology layer: July 2026 is a Universal Month 8. Eight is the number of visible outcomes, cycle-completion, and structures showing their real load-bearing walls. This Full Moon lands squarely inside that month. What was seeded gets weighed. Not judged. Weighed.
Nervous system care
- Get out from under a roof. Full Moons in Aquarius want sky. A porch, a park, a fire escape, a walk without headphones. Air-sign lunations get scattered indoors and coherent under actual air.
- Say the thing to the person, not the group. Aquarius wants to broadcast; the Jupiter opposition wants to amplify. Both those instincts can be honored by choosing ONE person and saying the actual sentence to them, out loud, small.
- Move something from a screen to a body. A conversation, a decision, a draft. The Moon-Uranus trine wants electricity through skin, not through wifi.
- Sit with what’s finishing. The New Moon in Cancer two weeks ago seeded something private. The Full Moon in Aquarius is where it becomes visible enough to be named. Give yourself ten quiet minutes to notice what grew.
- Leave room for a laugh. Sun-Jupiter conjunctions tend to arrive with unexpected relief. Don’t schedule around it. Just leave a window.
Why this Full Moon matters
Three things are stacking on this lunation, and each would carry its own post in a quieter month.
One: the tightness. Moon opposing Sun at 0.01 of a degree is as exact as a full moon gets. The illumination is complete. And because Jupiter is riding the Sun within 0.06 of a degree, the Moon isn’t just being lit by our star. It’s being lit by the largest planet in the system, from the sign of visibility. Aquarius Full Moons tend to feel witnessed. This one feels witnessed AND amplified.
Two: the cycle closes here. The New Moon on July 14 at 22 degrees Cancer planted a seed in the private interior. Home, family, the felt sense of safety, the memory-work Mercury’s recent retrograde was surfacing. Whatever got named in that Cancer week comes into visibility in Aquarius. What was interior becomes social. What was felt gets translated. Cancer-Aquarius is a specific axis: the private hearth and the public commons. This lunation is where the private material has to survive contact with the collective.
Three: the nodes just shifted. On July 27, the Lunar Nodes moved from Pisces/Virgo into Aquarius/Leo, opening an 18-month chapter that runs through March 2028 (there’s a full post on the ingress here). Two days later, this Full Moon activates that same axis by light. The North Node is at 29.86 degrees Aquarius; the Moon is at 6.5. They’re in the same sign, three degrees apart. This is not a coincidence in timing. This is the first lunation of the new nodal chapter, and it lights up both ends of the axis at once.
The aspects
Moon opposition Sun, 0.01 degrees. As exact as this aspect gets. The peak illumination of the Aquarius/Leo axis. Aquarius wants the collective, Leo wants the individual. Both are honored at exact opposition. Neither wins.
Moon opposition Jupiter, 0.06 degrees. Jupiter is currently at 6.4 degrees Leo, sitting on the Sun within a hundredth of a degree. Jupiter amplifies whatever it touches. When a Full Moon opposes Jupiter this tightly, the light gets loud. Whatever’s ready to be seen becomes very hard to ignore. If you’ve been sitting on something (a truth, a decision, a piece of writing, a small announcement), the pressure this week is toward release. Not because you should, but because the containment gets uncomfortable when Jupiter is this close to the amplifier.
Sun conjunct Jupiter, under 0.01 degrees. A separate but related aspect running the same week. Sun-Jupiter conjunctions happen once a year and mark a peak of visibility, expansion, and often opportunity for whatever house Jupiter is transiting in your chart. In Leo, at 6.4 degrees, the theme is direct: creative signature, personal authority, the willingness to be seen. This is not the aspect for shrinking. If you’ve been rehearsing a smaller version of yourself, the sky is not helping you rehearse.
Moon conjunct Pluto, 2.3 degrees. Pluto is at 4.2 degrees Aquarius retrograde. The Moon passes within a couple of degrees at the Full Moon peak. Pluto conjunctions in Aquarius surface what’s been quietly transforming underneath the group, the network, the collective structure you’re part of. Feelings that were compressed become visible. Small betrayals become named. Power dynamics you were pretending not to see get lit.
Moon trine Uranus, 1.6 degrees. Uranus is at 4.9 degrees Gemini. The trine gives the Full Moon a channel for the electricity to move. Insights arrive fast. Conversations open unexpectedly. A message you didn’t plan to send becomes the right one. This is the aspect that keeps the lunation from becoming stuck emotional processing.
Moon sextile Neptune, 2.2 degrees. Neptune is at 4.3 degrees Aries retrograde. The sextile is the softest aspect in the mix. It offers imagination and permeability without collapsing the structural clarity that Aquarius wants. If you dream vividly around this Full Moon, write it down without needing it to mean anything.
The cycle
The last Full Moon in Aquarius was August 9, 2025 at 17 degrees. Nearly a year ago. The annual Aquarius Full Moon is a moment of collective visibility inside whatever house Aquarius occupies in your chart; whatever was quietly building in that house since the last one is showing itself now.
But the more important cycle question this year is smaller and closer. What did the New Moon in Cancer on July 14 plant? That seed was described as a first draft, iterated inside Mercury’s retrograde. Two weeks later, the first draft has aged. Some of it is holding. Some of it isn’t. This Full Moon is where you get to see which is which.
Cancer-Aquarius as a lunation axis is specific. Cancer is the private hearth; Aquarius is the public commons. A New Moon in Cancer plants something in the interior. A Full Moon in Aquarius asks how that interior thing is going to enter the world of other people. The seed doesn’t grow in the same soil it was planted in. It grows in the light of the sign opposite. That’s how the lunation cycle works, and it’s usually invisible unless the axis happens to be one you feel keenly. This year, with the nodal ingress on the same axis, everyone feels it.
The next New Moon lands on August 12 at 20 degrees Leo, which will begin the next cycle in the sign of the current Sun-Jupiter conjunction. So the Sun-Jupiter theme (visibility, signature, “look what I made”) isn’t a one-week story. It’s the doorway into August’s whole lunation cycle. This Full Moon is closing one cycle and setting the tone for the next.
